Optional Classes
The Saint Denis School applies every year a wide range of additional and optional classes which take place in the School building in the afternoon (from 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.), organized also with the cooperation of external staff. Those activities are finalized to make the School turn into a place in which the children could satisfy their interests.
The School is getting organized to actuate additional classes also for the ex-students and for the Families, being based on their demand with the aim to become more and more a centre of social and cultural aggregation.
Swimming lessons
It is the only optional class which is held on Monday morning during the school time at the Ronchiverdi swimming-pool. The students who don’t attend this class remain at school and carry out alternative activities.
The swimming class means to offer to the kids a well-being and settled condition on which they can build a gradual learning of the swimming techniques.
The swimming instructors alternate moments of learning and moments in which the kids can play to make enjoyable a sporty lesson which has also great benefits.
Required equipment:
- a medical certificate
- a bathrobe
- a pair of slippers
- a swimming cap made of silicon
- a swimsuit (worn at home)
- underwear
Everything has to be put in a backpack with a label on which are indicated name and surname of the child. We recommend you to check off all the equipment with a permanent marker.
Dancing lessons
The purpose of these lessons for the younger kids are the use of the space, the ability in listening to music with specific attention to the rhythm, the relationship between sound and movement and the development in the body expression, together with elementary technical skills.
For older children the purpose is to broaden the concept of knowledge in children of the body, improving the perception. We introduce strength training exercises, stretching and education to better posture. We pay particular attention to the creative side of dance that offers the possibility to make room for the imagination and stimulate the mind by storing sequences.
Aikido e aiki-jujutso lessons
From the land of the Samurai, in the context of the disciplines that are the basis of all the best defense systems, we offer a curriculum specifically to improve the mobility of children and relationship with oneself and with others.
Keyboard lessons
The course of the keyboard is designed to introduce children to the study of the basic technique of piano and music theory.
During the lessons you study solfeggio at the basic level (recognition of notes and rhythmic figures, rhythmic reading exercises) and songs of the piano literature for children.At the end of the school year there will be a performance open to parents and friends. The adopted text will depend on the age of the child and the technical level achieved.
Guitar Lessons
The purposes of the course are the education in recognizing different melodies and rhythms, the practice of the instrument, the acquisition of reading and writing music, the development of creativity.
During the performance of the end of the year students will be able to play classic and melodic songs.
School of Drama
The drama workshop aims to establish a link with the topics studied by children at school. These topics are tackled from a different point of view, that is, through the theatrical language, according to the curiosity of children and suggestions of the class teachers.
The workshop is conducted with fun and the teachers try to entertain and stimulate creativity and imagination. It deals with elements of acting, improvisation, use of voice, body expression, work on comedy, puppetry and storytelling. Children approach the experience of different ways to "be a theatre performer”: from Italian popular tradition to the contemporary theater.
Even those who will not be professional actors in their future have the opportunity to increase their listening skills, concentration, expression and relationship with others.
